Terms of use

Last updated September 18, 2026

Please read these terms, especially the safety notice, before using Fixwise.

1. What Fixwise is

Fixwise provides AI-generated guidance to help you carry out small household repairs yourself. Fixwise is not a licensed contractor, electrician, plumber, gas engineer or other professional, and it cannot physically inspect your home. Guidance is informational. You decide whether to carry out any step, and you are responsible for doing so safely and in line with local laws and building codes.

2. Safety notice

  • Emergencies first. If you smell gas, hear a carbon monoxide alarm, see smoke, fire or sparks, or water is near electrics, stop immediately, get to safety and call your local emergency number. Do not use Fixwise in place of emergency services.
  • Always switch power off at the breaker and verify it's dead with a tester before touching wiring. Shut off water before opening plumbing.
  • Use suitable protective equipment and a stable ladder, and keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Stop whenever you feel unsure, unwell or unsafe. Calling a professional is always an acceptable outcome.
  • Fixwise will not guide gas work, main electrical panel or new-circuit work, structural or roof work, or any job that legally or practically requires a licensed professional. It may end a session if it detects a hazard.

See our safety guidelines for more.

3. AI limitations

AI systems can make mistakes, misidentify parts or hazards, or misunderstand speech. Double-check important instructions against the manufacturer's documentation. Photos and snapshots help but can't reveal everything.

4. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Keep your password confidential. You're responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service or attempt to circumvent its safety features.

5. Acceptable use

  • Don't use Fixwise to plan work that endangers others or violates laws, codes or permits.
  • Don't upload content you don't have the right to share, or content showing other people without their consent.
  • Don't attempt to reverse engineer, overload or disrupt the service.

6. Pricing, usage and limits

Guided repair is priced at a start fee per problem, plus voice guidance charged by actual AI usage, with a minimum charge per call. Current prices are shown before your first call on each problem, during every call, and at the end of it.

Early access: while we collect feedback, we are not charging customers. Prices are shown and tracked so you know what the service will cost, but nothing is collected. We will give you clear notice and ask for your agreement before any charges begin.

AI usage is also subject to a monthly usage limit per account, and individual calls have time and cost limits to protect you from surprises.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the descriptions, photos and videos you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store and process them to provide the service. How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for property damage, injury or loss arising from repairs you choose to perform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will notify you of material changes. Questions? Contact us.
